Easter Season
Did you know that Easter is a season, not just one day? We actually celebrate the Easter season for 50 days! During this time, we remember the days after Jesus rose from the dead.
- He goes to see His Apostles, and I can’t blame Thomas for his moment of doubt (John 20:24-29).
- He meets other disciples on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).
- Jesus ascends into Heaven (Acts 1:9-12) where we can see Him again when our time comes. The Feast of the Ascension is celebrated on a Thursday, and this year that Thursday is May 18th.
The Easter season ends on the Feast of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit (The Helper) descends upon the Apostles in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1-13). This year, Pentacost is celebrated on Sunday, May 28th.
A wonderful way to pray during the Easter Season is reflecting on the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
- Jesus' Resurrection from the Dead
- Jesus' Ascension into Heaven
- Pentecost: The Descent of the Holy Spirit
- The Assumption of Mary's Body & Soul into Heaven
- The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven & Earth
Lenten Reflection
Lent typically begins in the mid to late February when the winter chill is present and uncomfortable. The cloudy sky fits all too well in this time of repentance and reflection.
But we know that there is an end to this season of Lent. There will be sunshine and warmth to come, and the promise of renewed life.
We celebrate this renewal at Easter when Jesus rises from the dead! And we see it as the flowers begin to bloom, and the trees return to their lives with vibrant green leaves.
This year, Lent begins on February 22nd. Easter will arrive on April 9th. And between then, there's 40 days to reflect and renew ourselves.
How will you spend your Lenten season this year?
